Presentation Panels

Although this project has not been fully resolved, the ideas and creative generation of a solution has been some what satisfying. The magnitude of this project has been somewhat overwhelming as there was too much architectural consideration for the short amount of time given. I feel like this project has much more potential however due to time limits it was capped in the infancy of success.  The ideas behind each design decision I feel are still substantial and I have learned a great deal from broadening my horizons to seek architectural inspiration.  I can only hope that through this blog and panels that the amount of thought process can actually be seen and that the result of graphics reflects only the time limit and minimal software ability to create the vision I had.

Canopy Development

The following is a compilation of all sketches, images, renders and photographed model that exhibit the architectural and functional relevance to the parliament house. The materiality and KITS purpose of the canopy is perhaps the most resolved element of this project where the functionality precedents the form and further allowing expression of information to be realised.  Grounded in reality, the canopy is structurally simple allowing for movement of the pods and the ETFE to generate energy for the electromagnetic current to do so. Exemplar images also show the adaptability of the ETFE structure, where the existing landscaping would be able to continue growth and adhere to the contextuality of the exisiting parliament house.

Pod Development

The pod idea is integral to the idea of providing a flexibility and adaptation to information.  The pods take the form of a somewhat 'willy wonka' lift where it acts on magnetic tracks in order to transport around the nodes of parliament house and then to further interact with library services.  The pods also allow for two people to interact within one pod and then to quickly transport to the pod meeting room within the central library node. Cautious of time, the pod had potential to become an architectural entity in itself.  The diagrammatic drawings below allow for the expression of the pods to be conveyed, somewhat better than the renders that actually resulted.

Library Development

The process of designing the social library was supplementary to the canopy, where the library and canopy are a synergy of both physical and digital expressions of knowledge. These sketches are an example of thinking behind the library process. However had been altered in order to adhere to the time limit of the project. The following are images of the model made and also the internal render realised through the design development process.

This image of the library would have been good to submit however I did not have time to properly develop the inferiority of the space enough to substantiate including it on the panels.

Correlated Magnetics

The technology of Correlated Magnetics is a new technology which could be applied to my portable/dispersed libraries as a way to function and to provide further services of KITS.

Magnetic Structures

This visually communicated the ideologies of magnetics which allows me to identify and assimilate a strong connection to data transferal and further flexibility.  This needs further investigation however is promising in order to outline my architectural entity.

Identifying and Exploring Axis

In order to understand the flow of information and the placement of the portable/dispersed libraries,   axis of movement and transition was found.  The curved shape and straight between the built entities of parliament house allow for the selection of libraries to be simple.  The exploration into what is included within the built/changed entity is also explored through some simple and quick sketches.  Trying to jot down every thought in a drawing is difficult and is proving to be harder than deciding the direction of my concept.  It is also going to be very challenging to pull of my idea as it visually very complicated.  I am not sure if my sketch up skills are adequate enough to cope with this extreme curvature and flexibility.
